Packwaukee, WI — June 27, 2025

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we share the tragic news of a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian incident that occurred early this morning in the small community of Packwaukee.

At approximately 6:05 a.m., the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian in the Packwaukee area. Upon arrival, first responders found that the pedestrian had suffered catastrophic injuries and, heartbreakingly, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As the morning unfolded, roads were closed off to ensure the safety of emergency personnel and to allow investigators the time and space to carefully examine the site of this devastating accident. The driver involved has been identified and is cooperating fully with law enforcement as the investigation continues.

In a statement to the media, Sheriff Joseph R. Konrath expressed the heartbreak felt across the department and community, stating:

This is a deeply difficult and tragic situation for everyone involved. Our thoughts are with all those affected as we work to understand the circumstances surrounding this incident.”*

Out of respect for the victim and their family, no names have been released at this time, pending notification of next of kin. But even without a name, the weight of this loss is felt profoundly.

Behind every tragedy like this is a real person—a life, a story, someone who mattered deeply to others. Perhaps they were on their way to work, out for a walk, or simply moving through the early hours of a summer morning. In an instant, everything changed. A family has been shattered. A life has been taken. And a community is left mourning the loss of one of its own.

This is not just an incident. It’s someone’s child, someone’s loved one, someone who won’t be coming home tonight.

As we wait for more information to be released, let us hold space for grief. Let us think of the first responders who carried the weight of the scene, the family who now faces a life forever altered, and the community that must come together in sorrow.

To the family and friends of the person whose life ended far too soon today—we grieve with you. Though words will never be enough, please know that your pain is felt, and your loss is shared by all of us who call this place home.
